I have a friend who can no longer do air travel without being harrassed by security and border control. Why? He has a pretty common name, and it just so happens that one of the January 6 rioters who was arrested for attacking police has the same name. Now he's screwed despite doing nothing wrong.
If he wants to really stir the hornets nest then book a ticket with a spelling mistake & then correct that as late as possible… Combining that with some focused publicity miiiight just get the case elevated, so that the goons get more accurate info onwards
Most of the people persecuted by the government for what happened that day are also innocent.
Middle names FTW
Nah
If it's a common name then the security/border will surely take that into account. I assume your friend doesn't share the same birthdate as the Jan 6th rioter & certainly won't have the same passport number. I don't see why he'd get that much hassle, doesn't make sense esp. with a common name
This is why we need biometric identification at all points in society!
Lol
Covid/wokeism broke brains and they blamed it on Trump, who by the way, doesn’t do himself any favors by acting like the village idiot half the time. Those brains thought USA Corp. was going to protect them no matter what, aaaaand look! Russia bad bad bad!!
Cry harder
My brother in law goes through the same thing
Can't he just change his name?
I had problems post 9/11. My name matched someone on a watchlist. Took some extra time every flight to clear me. Eventually stopped happening.
Your friend can apply for the TSA pre-check program to receive a Known Traveller Number. Before pre-check was created you could request a KTN if you had a common name that was on the watch list. That no longer seems to be an option. TSA will finger print you for pre-check but the KTN will clarify that your friend is not the Jan 6th rioter.
And he has to take his shoes of. Because government will never roll back a dumb decision
What is the bitcoiner alternative to air travel? Is there a decentralized, permissionless way to fly?
Nope, governments have air superiority.
All superiority

I’ve been stopped at airports in the US and abroad a handful of times. It’s always frustrating and a little nerve racking. I’m always polite or try to crack jokes with TSA but damn they’re humorless and sometimes insulting. In Italy I was told my name was on some kind of list. I had 3 security screenings there! Also found out that an SSSS code on your boarding pass means you’re going to get a secondary screening.
