Handling hydrogen safely IS rocket science. Invisible, odourless, asphyxiating, turns alloy steels brittle as glass by contact, leaks through all known materials, burns with a flame temperature of 3000K. And it can detonate when mixed with air in a wide range of proportions. In exchange, its really lightweight. Something we don't care about for ground transport, let alone fixed energy distribution. I'm glad this reckless political scam appears to be being buried before it can kill any more victims in Norway, but I expect my government will push it for another ten years, or until there's a mass casualty incident. There's a cheap and easy way to make hydrogen safer and more usable - attach some carbon from any source and make synthetic natural gas or petrol (gasoline). That's not funded, because its not "new!" and because the technologies are well understood and out of patent.
Good , abandon it. So much crap going on to create’ New’ industries to push agendas. It’s all about money and power… not the Climate
Indeed, synth gasoline from Hydrogen would be a game changer. I imagine it can be done, but not at scale with current technology.
