NTA panel likely to focus on lack of cadre, in-house expertise ========== The Centre has formed a high-level committee to overhaul the National Testing Agency (NTA), focusing on critical deficiencies such as the lack of dedicated cadre, in-house technical expertise, and robust Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for conducting exams. Concerns also include the NTA's deviation from its original mandate of transparent online testing, issues with multi-tier leadership, and inadequate facilities at exam centers. The NTA heavily relies on consultants and those on deputation, resulting in a lack of in-house capabilities, technical expertise, and accountability. The NTA has faced challenges such as delays in informing students of their test centers, lack of facilities at exam centers, and inadequate checks and verification processes. The NTA was originally envisioned as a lean body to conduct online exams with the help of a technical service provider, but the decision to conduct pen-paper tests like NEET has led to structural infirmities and credibility concerns. The UGC's decision to move UGC-NET to a pen and paper format has also raised eyebrows. The high-level committee will address these issues and work towards improving the NTA's functioning. #Nta #NationalTestingAgency #Exams #Cadre #TechnicalExpertise #StandardOperatingProcedures #OnlineTesting #Leadership #Facilities #Consultants #Deputation #Accountability #TestCenters #PenpaperTests #StructuralInfirmities #Credibility #Ugcnet https://m.economictimes.com/news/india/nta-panel-likely-to-focus-on-lack-of-cadre-in-house-expertise/articleshow/111195076.cms
