@ccc5d141 Gif has many problems and limitations, gif was already superseded by the png format. I don't think there is a single situation where a gif file looks better than a webp file except in cherry picked examples where you're comparing a very heavily compressed webp with a top quality gif file that uses the full 256 color range to its fullest extend.
@ccc5d141 Another problem is that nowadays almost everyone understands "gifs" to be just a name for shortform animations. In reality the .gif file format is nearly extinct. Nearly all of the "gifs" you see presented by social media applications actually use more modern formats such as apng, webp, webm or mp4 in reality. They are lying to you about gifs.
