Despite 36 years passing, Jaswant expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of justice in the case and demanded the arrest and punishment of the perpetrators responsible for Chamkila and Amarjot's assassination. Imtiaz Ali's film about Amar Singh Chamkila has reignited interest in the singer's life. Chamkila was assassinated in 1988 along with Amarjot, but the case was never solved and no arrests were made.
