Indeed. Like all state-owned monopolies (and I call them that because they are permitted and controlled by the state. Some even say that they operate as a tentacle of the Leviathan itself), they can scribble down the rules on a piece of paper - or in bits and bytes - but at the end of the day what really governs the rules is the will of those at the top. And when they change the rules along the way, they'll force you to accept them in order to keep your account.
There will be no true freedom as long as we allow our voice to be silenced by using centralized platforms guarded by those who want us quiet.
