 Homeschooling lesson for the day.

The kids were learning about communism, socialism, and in particular what equity means.

Two hyacinth bulbs we are forcing are shown in the pictures.

The one on the right is full of roots, the other has one root.. not sure why but it's convenient to explain that in the name of "equity" we'd cut all the roots off the one plant top try to force the same outcome.

I don't think that's really the idea of equity 😅 it's not that you should cut the roots from the one doing well. The one doing well should be allowed to do so. But the one with a disadvantage should be given extra care to do better.
 reality vs theory
In my area there is a high school for the arts. You had to audition to get in for your discipline - dance, music, theatre, fine art.

They have just decided that it’s not fair since some people may be more skilled due to their upbringing. Now the school for the arts will be a lottery to get in.
First time I’m commenting on this decentralized experience and I love what I’m seeing! As a survivor of Communism (and formerly a homeschooling parent) I commend you so much for this visual approach to explaining the issue. I would only add this: IMHO this is a decent explanation of socialism. Socialism is economic when the leftist utopian agenda only steals money from the productive and redistributes them to others. To illustrate Communism you would have to burn the one bulb, not just cut its roots short.
Communism is terrorism. It’s bloodshed. It goes beyond unjust taxation. It demands slavery or near-slavery type of obedience from the conquered “haves” to the conquering “proletarians”, who always end up becoming filthy rich and powerful.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience.

I'm so sorry you went through that but I will share that with my kids so they understand even better what is at stake.

Thank you again... and as a side note don't forget to set up your lightning address!
Thanks for the feedback! What does the lighting address do for me if you can help educate me on this?
