Oddbean new post about login | logout The US is a tremendously capable country. Innovation is rewarded here, so it's in our blood. But the country has been subverted by a tiny cabal of greedy criminals, and they use American ingenuity militarily to enrich themselves and their tribe. As an American it seems strange to see "the Americans" did this and that. I was against every war. A lot of other Americans were too. But the ruling cabal just ignores everyone and does whatever they want.
So, what can be don't about it? The British did it for about 200 years. It didn't end well. It will not either, now🤷🏻♂️.
Well they run in secret, so naming the cabal and it's members is like shoveling sand in the gears. They're not actually running very successfully in the information age. They've developed some defense, like promoting nonsense and confusion, but overall they're losing power fast.
When politicians create fiat money, at will, out of thin air, it means the citizens of that country effectively lose their freedom to object to war. If a government must sell war bonds and/or rsise taxes to fund a war, the citizenry will only support it (and buy the bonds, and comply with the tax hikes) if that war poses an existential threat to those people, themselves. With fiat, governments are incentivized to print money and funnel it into "causes" (whether these causes are righteous or not is beside the point), in order to fund the corporations, lobbyists, super PACs, war industry, etc, who will keep those politicians in power. The incentives are simply broken. ₿
