Are you stubborn? just want to do things your own way?
Ya might as well be doing witchcraft witchcraft
Samuel 15:22
...Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.
What happens when we just want to self differentiate? Do things different?
This story comes a chapter after King Saul swears to follow the Simon Sinek book "Leaders Eat Last" and unwittingly makes a promise to kill his son Jonathan who didn't hear the instructions and ate some honey on his killing rampage.
When Jonathan finds out his dad told all the soldiers to not eat until they were done, he was sad because they could have killed more enemies if they hadn't been hungry!
Jonathan's leadership principle book would have been: "Leaders who Graze Go Farther"
that's starkly in contrast to samuel 8
He was a bad leader I suppose and his son knew it!
God is kinda brutal because he tells Samuel, "how long are you going to cry for this guy[Saul]".
Basically "go find another already"
