It got restored after KYC which was odd. I still have no idea what they think I did to violate their community standards. I was already a a verified user on Instagram so I don’t know why they made me redo KYC.

That happened to me about 6 times on 6 different accounts. I have my IRL Instagram account which has people I know in real life, friends, family, etc.. then I signed up for Threads with that account, but when some people from my school installed Threads, it started recommending my account to them… So I signed up for a new account on Web, which ended up getting banned about a day later, similar sort of message as you got there. Signed up again and again, too.. same thing. It’s annoying, I live in the Channel Islands in the UK, so a lot of products online aren’t available here, so Instagram account signups on web didn’t work initially, I had to use a VON, which in hindsight is probably what banned me. Made multiple accs on web with a VPN set to the USA so I could access Fediverse sharing on the acc, multiple times (idk why I kept trying), then I just gave up. Recently I signed up for an Insta account on my iPad to see if doing it on mobile helped, and it did. I tried on that since I didn’t give the app permission to my contacts so it seemed fine, that’s still the “techy” Threads account that I use now, it’s just annoying that you need an Insta acc for it. But I don’t really use it much, my main of these Twitter alternatives is Bluesky, I use Threads a lot as a tool to hoist ppl on Bsky lol. But yeah, they need to up their game, I think they just use AI for a ton of their mod work, hence why a lot of people have been banned lately. Luckily protocol based social networks solve this, you can spin up your own account without the friction of a company, if you wish.

Rabble was waxing poetic about the virtues of censorship during the Royexit controversy (which consequently was a nothing burger). See "Kind 1984" ( a bit too "on the nose" to be passed off as comedy ). He promoted the idea of a client based on whitewashing notes through a Microsoft API if memory serves. We lost our Instagram and Facebook about 10 days ago with a similar message. We appealed and then it was denied permanently. We're a small company attempting to break into main stream/pre coiner territory and that's where many artists and collectors live. So it's been a big blow. We're trying a couple different avenues but no luck yet.

I got out of the Facebook for similar reasons. They are flagging our content using AI. It's time to move to social networks like Nostr, Grillapp, Steem and Hive. We don't want AI to flag and ban us based on keyword usage in the content.
