I'm shocked. Nostr was mentioned twice in this article. It wasn't mentioning very positively, but it was mentioned.

Bad publicity is better then no publicity
Heavy-handed shilling for ActivityPub here. The writer’s bias is obvious, not to mention it’s clear he has never attempted to use the Nostr.
Agree. Verge is a Fediverse mouthpiece. They have never written anything about Nostr besides a random inclusion in a sentence.
Here’s my favorite example, a podcast clip where the host invites the “CEO of Mastodon” to openly mock Nostr and then laughs along with him.

I still want to know where this spam is at? I keep hearing people talk about spam, hate, and porn and really I haven't seen shit since last February.
The most spam I get is some air drop reply bot that I don’t even notice. I guess that counts.

Hate bullshit I see if I browse “universe” on open relays but that’s more opt in. Same with porn.

I might be bias because I’ve had a year (I have to look to see if today is my nostrversary) to curate my follows and relays. 🤷‍♂️
I’ve seen a fair amount of all of that, especially when I first started using Nostr back in July. Any time opening Universe you can see it’s still there, and outside of Universe I still run into some by surprise, mostly when people I follow respond to it.
Wasn’t mentioned in a bad way either. More aa a side note.
It's better than nothing. Most of the time we're the forgotten underdog.
First they oppose then they follow.

That's a basic of every game.
In time, perhaps. Discovery is our most hindering factor right now as most don't want to put in the work.
The author clearly doesn't understand that ActivityPub is a non-starter for what he's talking about
 It was mentioned positively.

> I’d bet heavily that ActivityPub becomes the default choice over time, but ultimately, it doesn’t matter so much which protocol wins as long as one of them does
all the others go nowhere without zaps
Not sure I'd say it wasn't positive necessarily - and I think discussing how things are evolving away from centralization is a good thing (even if the author may get some of the details wrong).

Yes, it'll be messy--making cool things always is. But it's started, and it's going to get better--and (for me) that's the key message.
It drove me nuts trying to use it. I never knew which feudal lord to give allegiance to so I could find and follow the right accounts. I simply gave up.
Absolutely. Once more people get their IDs rugged they'll see the flaw in its design.
The problem is more to do with the nature of *who* is running the servers. Some random guy that made a server for some random hobby? Yeah that’s awful.

A municipality running a server with tax payer money that simply follows the law? That’s definitely more interesting
