Guess we haven't been land of the free since 1862 when Lincoln started the 3-5% income tax for the war. 

 Correct although “we” doesn’t exist and to this day, but especially back then, there were people who did not pay that tax.

 I just had a discussion with a customer about that. He still believes the state is there to help and wouldn't take his property from him if they wanted to. Smh 🤔
