As in, the discussion should be about what a valid path to citizenship is, not about whether there should be a path to citizenship in the first place. I agree democrats probably typically want an easier path to citizenship, but I think there are valid reasons to believe that philosophically other than just “we want more voters.” Keep in mind that “borders” and “citizenship” are constructs of the state. Keep in mind also, that often times, it’s corporations and companies that are incentivized to hire cheap labor, so it could be construed as the state just giving the people (business owners) what they want; cheap labor. I don’t think it’s fair to just frame it as an evil democratic conspiracy. To be clear. I consider myself a right leaning libertarian, a bitcoin maxi, and a believer in capitalist ideals. But this is just the way I think about things.

It is correct to acknowledge the irony of stopping migrants coming into a country that was invaded by Europeans. Actually, my personal opinion is that securing the border is wise, and that mass migration erodes diversity in cultures we see around the world. I think mass migration is not necessarily good for the migrants nor the residents, at least in the short and medium terms. There are also cultural conflicts that often occur. However, it is also worth acknowledging that the US/West meddling in the foreigners affairs of the world creates conditions for people to want to leave their corrupt/impoverished countries. However, the financial manipulation that is at play is hopefully levelling out as other powers such as China rise, helping to balance the powers. Sometimes I think I’ve been giving people too much credit. Maybe it’s pretty basic….the media creates an “issue” and people will form their opinion of that “issue.” Their whole mind is filled with opinions of these media and government created “issues.” Free thinkers use their own eyes and ears to know what the issues are, but not everyone is a free thinker or their parents didn’t teach them to question things. My wife and I have already spent thousands of dollars, filed hundreds of pages of paperwork, and are nearly 2 years into waiting on a green card interview with no success. There are tons of immigration categories that are waived from paying these fees and get expedited work permits. I had to file an Affidavit of Support taking full legal responsibility in the case my wife becomes a public charge. If we attempt to get any public benefits the application will likely be rejected despite being married to a US citizen. It is completely aggravating watching tens of millions of people pouring over the border, being flown around the country on taxpayer dollars, receiving 6 months or more free housing, phones, visa gift cards, food stamps, and getting expedited interviews at the immigration offices in front of us. I don’t blame the people coming to make a better life. They have been fully incentivized to do so from the NGOs flying them from their home countries to Ecuador, to the busses driving them up to Mexico, to the USG giving them free things when they arrive. I would do the same if it was me. There are plenty of stories just like mine, with people trying to do things the right way. She is pissed, I am pissed. The entire ordeal has radicalized me to say the least. We have joked about just sending her to Mexico and walking across the border since it will likely speed up the process. Our governments hate us. They are importing a slave class, who yes- they will grant amnesty and allow to vote, (of almost wholly middle aged men despite the “children in cages” propaganda) into the western world and the whole thing is being funded on the citizens dime.
