My contact list on shows that I'm following 1365 profiles. Other clients have me following over 1400 profiles. Also, profiles that I've recently followed are showing as unfollowed on Primal. When I try to follow a profile on Primal, I am presented with the following: https://m.primal.net/IHCv.png I can follow new profiles on several other clients and see the change. How can I fix this on @primal @miljan ? I'm thinking of nuking and restoring via metadata.nostr.com.
My amethyst says you follow 1366 and are followed by 1400🤷🏽
But now it says you follow 1 and are followed by 1555 so there's that🤷🏽
I nuked because I couldn't follow anyone on Primal. Restoring now.
No no no Derek you did it wrong. If you've got nuke something, Nuke the whales! https://image.nostr.build/dca6d92b5b57c1d321af2cfeea218501e73e08b5f6d288391748d8b86ec67e1e.gif

My Amethyst says he follows 1 and followed by 1300+ 😅😂
Now he follows 1400+ 🤯😂
On Primal I am also stuck on 1600 even if I follow more then 1770 on #Amethyst.. When I try to follow from Primal it doesn't work 🫠
It sounds like a lot of people have this issue. That's good. Maybe the team can figure it out!
Yeap, let's see what @miljan will figure out 😁🤙🍀
I have same issue Primal showing only 1600 I'm following more than that. I have avoided primal since these issues dont want my follows nuked again.
Nuking didn't fix it for me. I'd guess and say it's a caching service issue?
i nuked and restored. all is well everywhere on everything i use, except @primal which shows me following just one npub 😄 nostr:note14paw8fz3kf9e5y756dvzn27ryveahxm2nx7xl7z5x2ppklfl6x8sclgsc6
Do you get that message consistently using the Primal web app (every time you try to follow somebody)?
I was getting it consistently, yes. I don't get it any longer as I've nuked my follow list (and restored it). But Primal doesn't show the changes.
Ok, we'll have to take a look and report back.
It sounds like many people have this exact same issue with contact lists not being updated. Maybe a caching service issue? Thank you sir. Appreciate it.
We can't seem to be able to repro this. Contact list updates by other clients appear to be correctly picked up by Primal. Question: are you seeing this issue only on the Primal web app, or also on Android?
Web and Android. I'm only following 3 people on Primal. I am following 1400 in other clients. I'll try to unfollow and follow people to make changes to the contact list.
Maybe related? https://github.com/PrimalHQ/primal-android-app/issues/129
Yo. Hope you guys don't mind me dropping a fresh UX datapoint in here... Met someone at the gym today during a work-in on the dips machine and got him to install Primal between sets, and then follow me by scanning my npub-QR in my Amethyst app. I was surprised he agreed; it's one of these incredibly cool city gyms, and ≈4/5 of the people I talk to there aren't too interested in freedom tech or state sponsored bioterrorism, and conclude that I'm an autistic ocd retard. Anyhow... I was expecting some kind of [new follower] notification so I could follow him back and send him some corn so he can test lightning at one of the local shops. But... no notification and I can't find him in my followers list.
Update: the @primal team fixed my issues. It turns out I follow too many people 😂 They had to increase the max event size in their database. Bonus: this is now fixed for everyone on Primal that follows a lot of profiles. If you commented on the original note with similar problems, you should now be able to follow additional npubs on another client and have the whole contact list updated in Primal too. nostr:nevent1qqs2s7hr53gmyju6z02dxkpf40pjxv7mnd4fn0r0lp2r9qsm05larrcpzdmhxw309akx7cmpd35x7um58g6rsd3eqgsr7acdvhf6we9fch94qwhpy0nza36e3tgrtkpku25ppuu80f69kfqrqsqqqqqp9ckye5
Wouldn't it be better to set some arbitrary fixed limits to how many follows are possible, as that's way easier to implement for all clients, smaller for relays to save, which will give better and more predictable behaviour of nostr as social mediain general. (Arbitrary fixed limits is how Bitcoin and twitter got their success)
Some relays don't like contact lists over 1000 contacts. Consistency makes sense. But then you'll have people complaining about limits and censorship 😂 It's hard to tame a wild beast.
