I need suggestions on a Linux file manager that doesn't change settings every time I go into a folder. Thunar is fucking garbage and I am sick of the view being whatever it chooses at whatever size it chooses whenever it chooses. No bells and whistles, just a file browser that keeps the view of each folder as I left it.

 Which distro are you running?
i run Zorin because it was teh only distro making a live USB that supported the RX 7800 XT video card that i bought
funny, I don't think I ever have those problems (Ubuntu 22.4)
 i jus use nautilus
also my preferred, although nemo is pretty damn sweet too, just most of the time i'm using gnome, occasionally i get cranky with it and use cinnamon thus nemo
thunar is lxde right? or is xfce... there is so many of these things but my personal favourites are nautilus and nemo, nemo is just a little bit better to be honest, but no way to prefer it when using gnome
Caja (Cinnamon) or Nemo (Mate?) are both good and you can configure it to inheret view settings from the fotmer window view or not in both iirc.
caja is great and lean. Dolphin Is feature-rich, but I guess that's not what you are looking for
