I’m sorry but the interface for adding alt text (image descriptions, which all images should have) on mobile is terrible in most apps. Here is tumblr and the Mastodon app. 👎 #mastodonsupport #mastodonapp #alttext (please do not reply telling me to use desktop, I do, it’s great, or with other work-around suggestions. I just posted the names of 30 insects using OCR and a host of other tools— I’m the queen of work-arounds! the point here is that “accessibility” shouldn’t be an afterthought!) https://cdn.masto.host/sauropodswin/media_attachments/files/111/165/471/862/430/074/original/610a0fe9b64fb43b.png https://cdn.masto.host/sauropodswin/media_attachments/files/111/165/472/091/650/231/original/eca241e59fb8e5d0.png
@134318c2 Yes. I post less because I ask myself -- "do I really want to type in the alt text for that photo of a book page?" and usually the answer is no.
@134318c2 Yeah. I've actually given up on posting something from mobile before and made a note to post it once I was back on my laptop just because the alt text interface in most apps is so terrible. Firefish has one of the better interfaces at least. You can see the entire image and get a multi-line text box as well as auto-transcription. https://chyros.net/files/0a7b98e0-39ae-4154-9d00-62014bbbc41d
