@433ed50a Not only is it possible, it’s actually shipping in the beta of Mastodon 4.2.0. My point is that this was never impossible, but that companies who understand social understand the impact search can have, and why Meta amongst others are more likely to build a compelling social experience that mainstream people want to use.
@5f05efe7 And they also know how to run it like a business, i.e. make money while offering this compelling product. FWIW old Twitter was still better - a central place but not quite big enough to act like a monopoly.
@433ed50a Having worked at Twitter for four years on societal health issues I get it. I didn't make any moral statements, I'm not passing judgements or saying that Meta should do this or that, I made a very specific statement about how Meta is well positioned to build a social platform that people like, and anything else someone reads into it is projection.

I would probably make Threads my main too. I like the algorithmic feed. When it finally arrives in EU, it would be the social network I would be recommending to the normies
