And yes, that means some people will not buy some things at some times, but your day-to-day necessities will be purchased no matter what. It's not like you can choose to not buy toilet paper today because it will be cheaper tomorrow. If you need toilet paper today, you will buy toilet paper today irrespective of the price unless it's just way out of whack, which it would not be.
People can just choose to pay fiat which is more stable.
