@f1c6c5c3 Yeah, I always thought that as well. And of course, there is the WWII bunker  on Foxhall near the German Embassy, & the bunker between Van Ness & Warren at 44th St NW, which neighborhood rumor claimed was linked by tunnels to the Naval Security Station (now Homeland Security).
