Why use primal or damus if you like twitter better? I built Damus because I don’t want to be control of my presence online. Twitter and any other platform can unperson me at any time. Most client devs are underpaid and doing it because they believe in this vision. Primal depends on proprietary extensions to the protocol to work, and will stop working if they run out of money. Damus iOS and Damus android are designed to be resilient. it will continue to work even if I’m gone or run out of money. People will choose clients which fit their needs and values. Not sure what you mean by “fix damus”, it is one of the few clients that works for my account.

Bluntly for me it’s all about where one places their values. If people have a huge following on Twitter and they feel that they can be a bridge from Twitter to Noster right on go donkey Kong. Or don’t we all have to make our own choices, right 🥰🥰🥰

Maybe it’s just my end. Maybe I don’t know how to make it work, but the attach wallet always gives me trouble. “Invalid nostr connection string” Maybe I should just use alby wallet, idk And idk exactly what I mean by fix Damus Other than the idiot take that, “something about it, I just don’t like” Maybe it’s that I’m too stupid and uneducated about the protocol in the first place. Like I get relays host the info and make it censorship resistant. But like that’s about it. I’m not a dev, just speaking as a user I get on Damus, I touch it for 5 minutes and get off I don’t how nostr works. Why can’t I delete my posts? I’m confused. I know part of the Damus goal is not to be doomscroll addictive But I kinda wish it was, so I can doomscroll on Damus and support it instead of twitter It’s most likely a small nostr user base that I’m indirectly placing the blame on Damus As well as my own ignorance and failure to self-educate myself on the protocol I just think that devs are forgetting that it’s important to teach your users how to take advantage of your tools. The reason TikTok was so explosive was because it was super easy for users to pick it up and create with it and interact with it. Damus doesn’t feel that way. I feel like I have to homework just to understand how to use it Skill issue I guess I’m probably just an idiot tbh

“Just use Primal” kinda sucks tho Cause I trust and like Will more than the people behind Primal. At least I know who Will is and what he’s trying to aim for And I can tell that Damus is technically superior But I am literally using Primal to type this because the user experience is “slightly” better And others might feel the same way too But I rather Will capture that audience from big apps on Damus than have them go to primal User experience matters It matters so much that people stay on iPhone just to keep their messages blue instead green

Not sure the discussion is worth your energy Will, this person clearly does not understand how nostr works, and what tradeoffs Primal is making in order to be fast or host a wallet. Whoever wants to understand it, will understand in time.

I don’t understand it But that should also be his concern if he wants users to support Damus That’s the same hubrjs that Linux users have that make people never want to try or use linux Even tho Linux is better than macOS or windows Don’t matter Most people don’t know how to use it So most people don’t use it

The app uses primal’s central proxy server to communicate with nostr relays. Their wallet is hosted by Strike. I believe those are reasonable trade offs by the way. And they still give you your keys. But it only stays free if we make sure any client can make it.
