Semi seriously, Back in the day we hosted friendsreunited: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friends_Reunited Which was like: https://www.classmates.com/ I went to school with one of the two founders and became friends with both of the founders. I miss the UK site and the US site might benefit from a makeover. I could make direct, personal contact to the UK founders.
I remember it. Was sold to ITV if I recall and then failed…
Yep, Jason Porter and Steve Pankhurst were attempting to resurrect it by buying back for £1 from DC Thompson. I put them in touch with Michael Birch who had bought Bebo back for a $1 a year earlier. (I knew Michael's brother Paul from Adam Street Club in London, where he was the entrepreneur in residence.) Both the Bebo and Friendsreunuted buybacks failed to spawn anything useful.
Also, semi seriously Facebook. No, I don't think you should email Mark Zuckerberg. But think about being self sovereign of your life story content. Photo's video's, messages, blogs, commentaries. Imagine your lives digital content sitting on your own relay, protected by your own keys and you deciding directly who has access to this. You may encrypt some stuff, you may share other stuff. You decide.
