We don’t have anything that integrates with email which hurts nostr growth, but does away with the old. Take your pick.

For long form use Habla.news
Maybe we should have a notification system for Habla. I should be able to subscribe to posts by certain users. I get notifications on my client.

i am not a client developer

as you will see if you ask some people also that the "update notification" pattern is an attention funnel and considered to be a dark pattern
i don't mean a visual one that you have to go look at, i mean a desktop notification or such

these are useful for things like calendars and inbound voice calls but for anything else just wind up being a total time waster
Tell me about it. It is a nice feeling when someone likes my notes. It is a dark path. I don't know how to mitigate this. On one hand likes help with the algorithm.
i agree with the idea to make likes a scarce resource, otherwise it's a very cheap signal
Yeah. I have not thought too much about this.
 Yes @verbiricha
Can't you do that? I don't know. Don't use Habla because Freerse has a long-form editor.
 Just gathering ideas.
This should be native to the protocol in place of NIP-02. NIP-51 should be NIP-02 in my mind. NIP-51 is simply "Lists". There is also kind 30000 identifiers for "Sets of lists" which can include people. As well as kind 10000 sets of lists which can include muted users.

Amethyst and Nostrudel and maybe a couple of other clients can generate a feed from these lists. While it's not optimal, it does work. I am of the opinion this can be optimized, and needs to be.

Personally I don't believe there is value in a global feed outside of niche exceptions. Sometimes there is value in peering into a well. But I don't believe there is much value once a user followed over 100 people. Even 50 follows can be overwhelming without filtering.
Spot on! There is no value in a global feed of Twitter like content. I do not need to be part of an engagement strategy. Although it is very less on Nostr compared to other platforms, it is still there as that is what we have learned over the years.

We need curated feeds, communities focused on specific topics with knowledge stored in places like Nostrpedia/Wikifreedia. We need people researching how to provide privacy for the rest of the world, better ways to build enterprises, Bitcoin's development, longevity, etc. We need experts here debating important matters.

A global feed could be a summarized version of our interests. We need focused communities that have a purpose.

Yes, we need memetics to spread the word, but that's not all we need.

Gah; I can go on and on. I will start writing more as a blog.

What bothers me is that there are very few ambitious people here that want to build global enterprises competing with Twitter. FOSS doesn't scale. We need companies. I will research Nostrocket to see what its about. Its on my to-do list.

My friend is building something that is exactly what you’re describing a need for.

I made a formal note about this to Pablo in response to a recent post of his. I would humbly appreciate if you could share some wisdom with us in that thread as well. :)

but I don't know how it works.
