a solid third of your conscripts fail the drug test.  if weed is legalized by then, drop that down to maybe 10%.  every round of new recruits, someone's arrested for smuggling meth onto the base, someone else for trying to sell oxy, and multiple people for weed.
in the old times, maybe you'd consider a 10 minute mile really out of shape.  on the first day of basic, you will watch your conscripts trickle in after 20, 30, 40 minutes and every single time, a couple will still be missing after an hour.  a search will reveal several fat fucks passed out on the grass or sitting under trees, at least one drunk, and at least one guy too high to know where he is.  on a sadder note, every class of conscripts will have at least one vaxxie dead of a heart attack.
