feels to me like they’re dismissive of nostr based on theoretical technical problems. “it can’t scale” “its inefficient” “relays can’t be monetized” the truth is all of these theoretical problems can be and are being solved. viewing nostr scaling through the lens of twitter is also embarrassingly misguided. decentralized networks scale nothing like a centralized private company.
The "other stuff" is so much more interesting and bullish imo than the social media clients. Latest episode of plebchain radio with arkinox was crazy. This is what everybody is missing

I am confused. I get the Twitter clone thing with the note signing, posting, zapping, relaying, etc... What loses me is the protocol side of things with the events signing and all the different use cases. Hopefully "Nostr is not decentralized X" campaigns will happen eventually that will clear things up for me. Or maybe I stop being lazy and I just do the work.
Think I'm going to do the work and let the campaigns be revision. So far, I know that it's censorship-resistant and that requests to delete your posts are not guaranteed to be accepted by some relays and clients. I'll get there. 😅

The social media fever has generally died down- the liabilities that were revealed in 2020 are fading in people's memories. There needs to be some way for ownership of the identity to be monetized for them. Otherwise the energy cost and the deferred network opportunities don't jive.
