Seeing all these American identify themself by politics is so foreign to me.
I dont think i ever heard a single person parade around what they voted for here
It’s probably the result of the 2 party system. There is us, and there are the others. Keep them divided, keep them divided at all costs!
It goes beyond politics but yeah the us versus them mentality aint helping.
But same with profession could be a Netherlands thing tho but most dont give a shit what you do for work.
What do you do matters less than who are you
 Word, and I’m an American

but not party affiliated, it’s so gross
We're not all like this. Most don't wear political clothes or put political signs in their yards or on their homes. Most people don't wear their political beliefs on their sleeves. Most don't worship politicians. Most don't form identities with political figures. Many actually fucking hate talking about politics. But the thing is, we have a two party system. This puts us into these odd "us vs them" scenarios where many people treat political parties like teams and have to win at all costs. The American political complex is one that will be studied in future generations, showcasing where we went wrong.
Fair point Thanks for adding nuance here
alot of Americans are a product of the public education system. dont think about it too much.
 until this election id agree.
 Unpopular opinion:
America's two-party system is pure genius and one major reason why they're going to remain the most-powerful state, going forward.

Signed,
Person living in a country where there are a bunch of parties, the voters don't care what is going on, and the government is a constant mess that can't figure out how to make any important decisions.
I definitely dont think the Germans or the Dutch have figured it out i agree on that but the two party system winner takes all i definitely dont agree with.
Not saying you have a unFair stance i see where you are coming from
this is the first one i cared about.

partly because i ran into a young girl in a gay bar who wanted to cut her boobs off, and it was not OK to ask "are you sure?"

the internet gave us a taste of information freedom (contrasted with the Bush era of everyone believing whatever the media lied about).

one party was for controlling the social media. the other candidate was at least nominally better.
