 It just feels like every revolution always ends the same way, what you try get rid of, eventually just keeps coming back. Chopping a few heads off, feels like the same thing all over again. Revolutions make things better for abit, but seems like its following a patterned cycle thats keeps repeating, like its repeated for countless times in the last 2000 years plus. Those that say its human natures, thats just the way it is, sounds like a cop out answer. I dont know what the alternative approach is. I bet there is a better way, often stares us in the face and we can't see it. Frustrating AF. 
 Tbh, nowadays believe more in fragmentation and dissolution of nation state that chopping heads, it could happen if we build our own alternatives in "free pieces of land", more related to the concept of citadels. 
 Yeah I've heard this before. It does seem like when a country becomes too big, it loses ability to look after its people. I get the feeling its because once country goes beyond certain size, corruption, power, overtakes. Like there is too much conflict of interest. Small community managing itself is manageable. 
Some of the best countries in the world im looking at for 2nd residency/ tax / lifestyle are extremely small. Big countries don't offer as much to the individual. 🤔  
 I live in a small country, even i do agree with what you say, tho whole concept of nation state has become obsolete, and precess of fragmentation has already begun in the society, the distrust in the system is increasing no matter where
