It floored me that this man’s 4th grade child was not taught phonics. I taught both my kids the alphabet & then phonics at 4 years old. They both started school being able to at read or if they didn’t know the words they could at least attempt to sound out the words.

Public schools are committing educational malpractice on our children to be able to easier control them .😡

Yes that was surely eye opening! Both of my children read before they went to school too. After all, parents are (or should be) their children's first teachers! Reading to your children is the single best thing you can do from when they are born.

We did school for a few years so they didn’t “miss out” and they had a good idea of what it meant, but we homeschool now and fly-high! They surely appreciate homeschooling now.

The "whole word" method was experimented with in Michigan in the 40s with my dad. He never learned to spell. They knew it was bad for kids to not learn phonics, but they kept experimenting with "whole word" over and over and over. Some places still use that horrid method.
