i have never seen a book on the topic. well, actually that is not entirely true. i came across a book in ‘99 which went into depth about the difference between the early Celtic church, and the Augustinian catholic church, which carried the legacy of the Roman Empire in its dna. The Celtic church was a thriving culture of Kingdom. Art, medicine, music, literature… the celtic monestaries served more as cultural centers. Natural expression and personality, redeemed. The Augustinian tradition carried the legacy of top down, crush resistance paradigm of the Roman empire. The idea has been ruminating in me ever since. and ive never been able to find the book again 🤷
