I will trust a random nostr internet fren's opinion or recommendation on any purchase before typical reviews or approvals from media, the general internet, etc.

Is this what 'Web of Trust' is about?
It is really hard to trust reviews on random items from random people (amazon, etc, ...). Most reviewers out there lack any incentive to provide honest (even negative) reviews.

Even at places where they have nothing to gain (google maps reviews), the average rating in the US is probably 4.7/5. Americans are much more hesitant to give negative reviews in general.
 100%

This is why even though I don't necessarily 'trust' you all, given that it's nostr and you all are a bunch of pyschos, chances are if you like a product then it's a good product
 Don't trust, verify

Web of trust is about scaling the number of frens based on social connectivity.
That makes sense. So then recommendations from said WoT would be a first order effect of having a WoT
Zap.store wot stuff is interesting. Saw Vitor recommended an app, tried it out, it was fire.

The man put his reputation on the line.
Exactly it, our reputations are on the line when we recommend a thing, place, or person to someone
