For business accounts like yours it is essential to be credible and therefore important to set up your nip-05 with your domain: https://stacker.news/items/145928
Can you help me understand something about verification? I watched videos on the process but I still don't understand how it verifies anything other than that you own the domain.
You own the domain and the pubkey belongs to it which is what you want for a company
OK thank you. That makes sense. I'm sure its somewhere in the vid I watched but, what is to stop me from taking someone else's pubkey and linking that?
Clients will check the pubkey on the domain. Imagine e.g. Larry fink having a @blackrock .com nip05. Sure other people from BlackRock can also have one, but you can't add your npub on their server. Clients will check the file and warn if your npub doesn't belong to the domain.
