@:ihavenomouth: @cassidyclown @m i s a n t h r o p i c update i went to buy some sandpaper and a block and used the roughest one and its very hard work :blobcatdead2: i did around 40 minutes and im starting to see the shiny metal underneath :blobcat: will continue tomorrow https://niscii.xyz/files/08e16be1-399d-4170-b375-641c2364436e
@67975218 @cassidyclown @m i s a n t h r o p i c very nice
@:ihavenomouth: @cassidyclown @m i s a n t h r o p i c go 2 sleeb frend :spinbuddynotspinningpet:
@67975218 @cassidyclown @m i s a n t h r o p i c I can't, the oven is on
@67975218 @:ihavenomouth: @cassidyclown @m i s a n t h r o p i c Is there a reason you're sanding an anvil?
@Lt. 'noticer' Columbo @:ihavenomouth: @cassidyclown @m i s a n t h r o p i c just trying to get the rust off. do you think its a bad idea? :apuhmm:
@67975218 @:ihavenomouth: @cassidyclown @m i s a n t h r o p i c it SHOULD be fine. But remember to oil it once it's clean. My anvil was always rusty af, but I only ever used it for cold forging
@Lt. 'noticer' Columbo @:ihavenomouth: @cassidyclown @m i s a n t h r o p i c will do :ablobcathappypaws: it arrived super dirty so i thought itd be nice to make it clean since im using it indoors with no heat on it
@67975218 @:ihavenomouth: @cassidyclown @m i s a n t h r o p i c angle grinder would be much easier tbh. at least here low quality ones (they are more than good enough) are quite cheap. there are also softer pads if you want to test the waters to avoid marring it or you could use an orbital sander ... for sanding something ... the hardware store should sell various corrosion removers that are much more effective than vinegar I guess you already got whatever else off of it but for future reference automotive brake cleaner is a good thing to try for metal surfaces. saves a lot of trouble with things that dish soap just doesn't handle very well
@creator of #fediblock :verified::makemeneko: @:ihavenomouth: @cassidyclown @m i s a n t h r o p i c i rly dont wanna get any machine for it they are expensive here and i will never use it again probably ぐ( ̄▽ ̄) im also afraid i wouldnt be able to get the correct angle on some of the areas and would ruin the shape or something. i will keep the brake cleaner in mind next time ty
@67975218 @:ihavenomouth: @cassidyclown @m i s a n t h r o p i c > the hardware store should sell various corrosion removers try 10% citric acid. that should be something vaguely like 100 g in 1 L of water. probably wear goggles and gloves at that concentration (I'm not actually sure at what concentration it becomes an acute hazard tho)
@creator of #fediblock :verified::makemeneko: @67975218 @:ihavenomouth: @m i s a n t h r o p i c @cassidyclown Yup and one of those. Available in any hardware store. You don't have to worry about grinding into the surface, you would need a lot of force to do so. @67975218 @:ihavenomouth: @cassidyclown @creator of #fediblock :verified::makemeneko: @m i s a n t h r o p i c *Psst* The Bosch 18V akku driven ones are great. >but babe it doesn't have a cord that means it's not a power tool
@f65da12f @67975218 @:ihavenomouth: @m i s a n t h r o p i c @cassidyclown > it doesn't have a cord that means it's not a power tool this is true. real power tools have coords
