Open source developers also need financial resources and work in a safe environment. How many new apps developed in the authoritarian states? Almost none. The reason is because developers or any investors in freedomtech will be immediately repressed.
Use your rights and privileges or you will lose them. This is a choice we face right now.
I am glad people like you are fighting for it. It doesn't give me energy. The answer for me are the open protocols and tools around it.
It is not enough, unfortunately. Only our voices are not enough. Mobilization in the EU of those who care about privacy is a key.

Your attitude is the best example for more systemic problem.

Open source developers can’t create and develop, get financial support in the hostile environment.

In the US for instance, you have one of the most safe environment to develop, you have number of organizations defending developers and funding for that purposes from private donors.

So they able to do different instruments to gather the attention and mobilize people in defense of privacy.

Nostr was born where? Where is majority of innovation of freedom tech companies located?

In the EU we have just few voices in defense of privacy and majority is ignorant. Besides that no private funds for such work, which means no funds for defense of open source developers once they under repression. We have only governmental funding for NGOs so you can see nothing even close to the US scale of protection for privacy.

And your energy and similar approach by others just project your attitude. It is fine, I respect your point. It will unfortunately has its consequences. Im afraid very drastic and very soon, if nothing changes.
"Mobilization in the EU of those who care about privacy is a key."

I'm sure your right that it is key but many not in the EU (perhaps many more than in the EU) care. If the idea is to filter all communication and content, I'm guessing that messages and content originating from outside of the EU would be the within the scope? So far, I've onlt seen European Pirateparty and resources aimed at direct EU consultation. Would widening the engagement to help voice opinions be a reasonable idea?
For sure, if we got more attention in western countries to the need defend freedom tech - it will be more effective approach.

Besides that, EU is establishing so-called golden regulatory standards for other western states or potential members of the EU as Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova. It also has impact for regulation of Latin America, Central Asia and African countries. Dictators very quickly will use this side-door to get all information and communication of critics.

For this reason it is a matter of interest of everyone who thinks that privacy is a guarantee of freedom of speech in the world, not only in western countries or if lost in western countries - functionally of dark internet.

It is not true, that only Pirate party is defending privacy, but it is true that Patrick as a member of this party, is one of the most systemic and outspoken in his defense of privacy.

Ideally, and what we are trying to establish in the EU, is #FreedomTech #Embassy, where we can discuss, work on better regulatory environment for users, developers and investors of freedom tech.

At the same time it will be place where everyone can learn how to use #bitcoin, what does it mean protect your privacy of communication and financial data, why mining is important for adoption of renewable and #EU grid stabilization, its development but not a threat of the energy and environment security as it right now presented by ECB and other EU bodies.

We need a place and team in the EU to defend freedom tech and our digital rights.

We need it now, before it is too late.
