What do we want to back? Intentions or agreements. It’s a though question. I think we know what some people intend and won’t have the technical expertise to verify that software is meeting their intentions. If people keep getting burned and the response is “well you signed on the dotted line” they just might stop participating.
Imagine I’m too ignorant to decipher code and I can’t trust the developer or code interpreters to help me achieve my intentions, then I would consider avoiding the whole thing.
