The company behind Pokemon Go has announced it is using data collected by its millions of players to build an AI model that can navigate the real world, and could be used for robots. Doubt Pokemon Go players anticipated this https://www.404media.co/pokemon-go-players-have-unwittingly-trained-ai-to-navigate-the-world/
I used to play this game!
Thank you for your contribution of teaching AI how to navigate! I played it for a couple months when it first game out as well. Not surprised what they doing with the data though.
I’m sure their plans were somewhere in the terms and conditions that no one reads. 😬
Oh you mean they were keeping track of all that? SHOCKING! IM SHOCKED!
I remember I was in college when it came out, and there was a period of time where if you saw someone on their phone outside, it was probably to play Pokemon Go.
Yeah, it was a big thing when it came out. Even here in Puerto Rico, I remember there was a day people overcrowded the center of San Juan because of the game, trying to catch a Charizard. Wild how big it got at that time. I am sure they retained a good amount of users since then.
If you checked into its investors, this is actually a mild (likely first phase) outcome compared to the potential other uses they have associations with.
bro the cia has been using PG to generate indoor maps the world over
I trained with with a GPS spoofer that could go to Australia xD
The warnings about it's data collection and possible uses were warned about from the release of the game.
Yes I was aware of it but I can bet 90% of users do not have a clue.
I agree. An unfortunate sign of willful ignorance in the face of novelty and convenience.
are you talking about your grammar error? 😰
agree, you always see it's and never its almost as if people enjoy adding extra characters
its* it's = it is
Yes, dear. I didn't catch the autocorrect. Thanks for the explanation of English contractions.
🤙🏻yeah autocorrect sucks. any time fren. there is an edit fxn
Cringe.
can't even look at a grammar correction without cringing. what a spineless slime
He corrects someone for a punctuation error and incorrectly calls it "a grammar correction". He does this with missing capital letters and periods in his own note. What an utter tool.
