Many people still believe war is how it used to be. Conventional.. fought with guns, bombs, tanks, missiles, etc. Is it really so hard to believe that you are already fighting in a war without even knowing it?
We are constantly being undermined without direct confrontation with the enemy. It's subversion, sabotage, economic, biological or chemical, etc and most definitely psychological.
Dig a little deeper.
"The supreme art of war is to defeat your enemy without fighting." Sun Tzu, The Art of War
Even in conventional war, there were testimonies from ukranian soldiers that they had not seen russian soldiers after one year of war. Anyway there is this old quote that when amateurs planing tactical attacks and defences, profesionals planing supplies.
Also the first scientificaly written history book since the fifth century AD (from Thucydides), tells us that war is about money, not weapons. And there is more to it like you say
This is hard for me to talk about, tbh. I don't want to offend any other vets or, for that matter, any fiat workers.
But, you are right.
I think the hardest part to swallow about it for most is that the enemy is much closer to us than we want to believe.
We're our own enemy. Shall I further elaborate?
Opinion; most people need/want instruction. The result of 60 years of legacy media and public education intellectual subjugation of a populous.
It happens very gradually and those will high time preference are blind to it.
People hate the idea of slavery but, almost always, fail to realize that they volunteered for it.
Allow me to assuage your inner conflict a bit Lucas.
As both a vet and a fiat worker, I agree 💯 with AK. What I didn't figure out until recently (about 5 years ago) was with advent of the internet and democratization of information, how is it most don't feel the same as AK and I in 2024.

To the state, all forms of warfare are about nothing but money and other resources. Always has been. But evolution has brought us to the stage where conventional warfares purpose has become less about making money and more about serving as a distraction from the unconventional forms of warfare that are being instilled (in terrifyingly effective fashion) into society. Fiat worker, veteran, we all unknowingly contribute to never-ending wars whether we want to admit it or not.
Imo, most can't bring themselves to the point of self-blame, so they simply shift that blame to another party; the state, an enemy nation, or just another person etc.
