People can certainly object through nonrecognition (mileage may vary.) It will be pushed through as you describe, so that it cannot be connected to the eventual pitch for a 'new deal' or whatever phrasing the incumbent far-left gov decide to go with. From my token first hand observations of how those who have grown up and done okay being on the winning side of the outsourced manufacturing boom *are doing, a successfull life (having a home in a city) is no longer as fun as it used to be twenty years ago. I guess that's not just an issue with 'capitalist decadance, borgoise hedonism' or what ever are the ills or western values. More than that, I personally feel that the need for the US to realign itself with the core values of the constitution, amendments and bill of rights is the last hope for humanity. I'm no expert and the US has it's own problems, but I also know socialism is far from paradise. Great piece of writing. *edited.. ⛾
