the way i understood it, it is basic law... if you have been part of an "act of insurrection" you may not partake in presidential elections in some states...

They didn't just "ban" Trump for no reason, what is more it was actually Republicans who filed the motion...
But who adjudicated that he was part of an “insurrection?” That’s just something people said on TV.
from what i read (and i can't remember the source) the way the judges made up their mind was to view all available evidence presented to date and make a decision based on that. I don't have the legalese language to explain that but it seemed that due process was followed by the judges.

Personally, the moment you publicly instruct your vice president to stop the necessary signing of documents needed to hand over power you have partaken in an "act of insurrection"
No, it was a joke. He has never been charged let alone convicted of anything. There was a bunch of protesters let into the capitol by the police. They were unarmed, hurt no one, had zero impact.

I don’t even like Trump but this is an absolute farce.
judges would have to follow due process though - to pretend the judges are somehow "owned" by a political party goes too far... it was a narrow decision, too - 4:3
btw they were NOT unarmed - this was all over Twitter yesterday - scores of different groups came in and had guns...
and did i imagine it, or weren't a couple of policemen or guards killed?

Maybe i have that wrong though...
You didn’t imagine it. You were lied to, and no correction was ever made by those who lied. And they were unarmed. Total farce.
This. He wasn’t marching them into the building and they’re finally showing the videos and tweets where he said to go home and don’t cause violence (they were taked down that day). It will get overturned by any respectable judge.
Agreed, but he technically hasn’t been convicted of anything yet so they jumped the gun. The removal will most likely be overturned by the Supreme Court, and when that happens, CO and MA will just look like LARPs (unless they secede imo).
