Present Western governments are all the marketing a free protocol could dream of. I think we just need to build more relays, make sure the apps don't become bloated and broken, and stay humble. Nostr is already winning, we need to not screw up.

In my view, which is worth a week of exploring, Nostr needs to be sold as a complete new internet package, not just social media. Its all very cool to push Primal and Iris and all the rest of the Twitter killers. The way you can go from one to the other and your account details always pop up, not going to argue, it is impressive. But now branching out, exploring working Nostr apps listed on https://nostr.net/ wow, Nostr really can be the alternative to the whole "other' internet. I found Lumina, an app that displays all images loaded on to Nostr. Cant do that with a combo of FaceBook, Twitter etc Memester self explanatory Pinstr is Pinterest for Nostr Pollstr and now found Satellite which works really slick. They are all accessible with one universal ID and the Browser Extension. Its brilliant to have like a Google login but no tracking. That's my2 cents.
Just time and the inevitable squeeze of censorship on all other communications. It's completely impossible now for governments to avoid taking full control of social media (leaving aside the possibility if trump gets in). They are too committed and it makes too much sense for them. When that happens nostr will be the only option for free information, just as bitcoin will be the only option for free economic exchange. I expect we'll see some major figure realise this and release content on nostr that cannot be shared any other way. Then they'll try to shut it down and when they fail it'll be all over.
Elon may realize he can't protect X from censorship, and makes an api or something so it integrates with nostr and cannot be stopped. I hope @jack is telling him to do this!

While it would never happen it would be an interesting FU If x created an option to add your/generate a nostr key as a way of ensuring permanent records regardless if it was required to remove content by a government entity. It could technically comply and still have public record of what was removed at the same time.
