I know a true story first hand of how a Great Dane laid on top of his husband and wife masters when hurricane Andrew ripped through Homestead FL in early 1990s 

 they lost their home's roof and much of their walls and laid in a bathtub. the Great Dane and humans were uninjured, despite the flying debris right above them
