I woke this morning feeling a little bit blue and I had intended to visit Epping Forest early. I had to push myself to get my kit and get out. When I arrived at the location I still wasn’t feeling it and lighting conditions were poor with bright sunshine making highlights harsh and shadows too black. I was about to give up when I decided to explore a part of the forest I hadn’t been in before and everything changed. 

I found a curving meandering stream flowing through the woods and as the location was in a gully the lighting was a little better. I spent a couple of hours wandering around and hopefully I have managed to get something decent. Needless to say photography has again lifted my spirits and boosted my sense of wellbeing.  That feeling of finding a new location that gets the creative juices flowing is very exciting. It’s clearly paid off for you too, this is a beautifully captured image with the carpet of autumn leaves, soft light and stream leading us in. Has a really magical feel to it. Love it.
