I was inspired by this note to read this:

and there is a section on culture that names some **anarchist sci-fi books**:

- *Late Night Final* (1948) by Eric Frank Russell
- *The Left Hand of Darkness (1969) by Ursula Le Guin
- *The Dispossessed* (1974) by Ursula Le Guin
- *The Joy of Sex* (1972) by Alex Comfort
- Iain M. Banks’s ‘Culture’ novels, from *Consider Phlebas* (1987) to *Hydrogen Sonata* (2012),
- *Steampunk* (2007-2013) by Margaret Killjoy
- *Mars* trilogy (1992-1998) by Kim Stanley Robinson
I've read the full Mars trilogy and it's full of very interesting political and societal questions around how a new form community, government, economy, etc. would form given a blank slate.

My issue with it is that it sort of skates past many of the harder questions and doesn't really consider them deeply (but then again, it's a novel, not a book dedicated to exclusively exploring those ideas).

In any case, highly recommend the series. It's really enjoyable.
