Trying to upgrade wife to a new #Pixel 9 Pro through #Verizon. They say it unlocks after 60 days (after which I would install #GrapheneOS). Anyone know anything about this? Concerned about the snooping in that first 60 days.

Verizon always locks their bootloader's so you won't be able to do this.. they only carrier unlock once it's paid off.
Not being ornery, just asking but why buy through Verizon and not Google store or another shop? Is there a discount?

I don't know about unlocking time based but did get an unlock back in the day by calling
 yes, for the promotion/upgrade discount
 Verizon tends to lock bootloaders..

So it may become carrier unlocked, meaning you can use it with other cell providers, but you might not be able to install your own OS.
 ah, that's the trick...ty
oh heck I just zapped myself 😖
In have the same understanding. Carrier unlockedndoes not mean factory unlocked. You need a factory unlocked pixel.
 ☝️ what he said.
You could buy a used one already unlocked from Swappa.com
Save your sats by going one model lower. If you're in the U.S. try using websites like www.Swappa.com or Craigslist.
I'd buy direct from Google if its and option. It comes unlocked and can be used with any carrier.
more than likely get my Pixel 9 Pro unlocked from Best Buy, paying cash, then moving on to @GrapheneOS for a serious upgrade on the purchase.
I love this place. Thanks to all for the help. You prevented me from saying

The 8a is a great deal and there's not much difference as I read from the 9 series.
Not sure about Verizon, my wife just got the pixel 9 pro through a similar program with our AT&T account.
