This debate has so far been an outstanding example of how to disagree, argue the points, seek to persuade, and still stay respectful towards your opponent. It's refreshing to see.
Imagine a world class security expert but his words were coarse. But he was a master at his craft and has extreme skills. But he is an asshole.
Then you have a couple of nice people but they can barely turn on a computer.
Who would you want as your security administrator for your company?

Decent analogy. What you’re missing is the real issue of people accepting the asshole has any skills whatsoever and without checking the record of failures.
