Only by cutting the diamond into a 'mathematically perfect structure' you can obtain the most light reflection. More so then in any other stone.
This is the true value of a diamond. 

 

 Its also just carbon.  Pretty common element even on earth. 
Gold is much more interesting.
I still prefer bitcoin if I have to own anything.
