If a normie came to you now looking for a recommendation for a new messenger app, what would you suggest to them?.
. I have given this some thought and I think the best path forward is xmpp. It's a protocol, it's tried and true, and it's partially decentralized. But I am curious what you think
XMPP is good, especially if the person has android. Something like Monocles or Cheogram.
If they have iPhone, probably signal. Signal is more normie than xmpp or simplex. Depends how much time you’re going to spend showing them how to use it. They are likely to know other people using signal already.
Signal is great, but it doesn't have useful bots 🤷♂️
