It’s that time of year: mice are trying to move into the house. :P

What’s been the most effective bait you’ve used on a snap trap?

I’ve had semi-decent success in the past with half a grape twist-tied to the bait plate. (I read somewhere that they seek out moisture as much as food.) Peanut butter or cheese never seem to work nearly as well.

But I’m eager to try other baits! Or other methods altogether (besides poison or sticky traps).

Contact a local snake catcher or reptile keeper.
Snake scat and shed snake skin is a great deterrent for rats and mice.
Here in land of OZ I use it in the chicken coop and in the roof space, no rats or mice for years now since I learnt this.
I was going to say peanut butter. Could try lard? I remember using that when I was a kid.
