well, i prefer the medium/dark varieties of trappist style ales in australia this style of 3 month aged home brew even has a famous brand, Coopers, they also do a fully dark stout as well, definitely one of the best stouts you can find, they also do a medium dark ale the aging is really important, and if you can find bottle conditioned it's the absolute best... the real stuff has a bunch of crud in the bottom of it that should be fairly dense and heavy and not come out unless you try to drink it from the bottle until the end
