I think it's important to distinguish crappy performance art and conceptual art from abstract art with deep meaning. Something may look like "paint splattered on a canvas" on the surface but may have a deeper meaning to be found (some may not also). Rothko's and Cy Twombly's have deep meaning to me, for example. Figurative art isn't the only expression of talent and beauty.

Cy doesn’t flow for me, I have an issue with it for some unknown reason. But Jackson and Rothko being early excuses them from the retardation. They started it but are not responsible for the horror that came after
Agreed. I have mixed feelings about Cy too but can't stop looking at them haha. There's some good stuff out there but I agree there's so much collective masturbation going on it's insane
