Oddbean new post about | logout
Nothing prevents the event itself from being re-broadcasted and like most similar legacy services nothing prevents paying users from saving the content to their machines and re-sharing it elsewhere.

However, creators will have access to our file host that will only unlock files for authorized users by IP initially and then eventually by NIP-98 when more widely supported.

This way, even if the protected event is leaked by one of your subscribers, the links in the event will not work. We also support PPV links with embedded streaming video (instead of just serving the file) to further minimize unauthorized redistribution.
cool solution, thanks for sharing and continuing to innovate!
I have very little understanding of the technicalities of how this will work, but as someone who uses a VPN 24/7, having content fenced by IP address would suck...
As long as you’re not switching VPNs after connecting to the websocket it shouldn’t be an issue!

NIP-98 will simplify all this. That will allow us to auth content access via your nostr identity instead.
 That's not too bad, then.
