bitcoin has always been public property - no one can own a number, the best you can do is keep it secret
What an absolute fantastic take. No one can own bitcoin. How utterly ridiculous
Are you referring to the idea that intellectual property and/or ideas can't be owned? I heard this concept the other day and I can't quite wrap my head around it. If that's what you're referring to, could you explain it?
Yea. You’re just a communist. https://image.nostr.build/4d06f8c6c15be74c000ee88ff0ab24f747b811c78bedc373c96f90658137599c.jpg
Don't be so quick to judge that you miss an opportunity to learn. If you don't even try to understand the opposition, you only prove that you are the fool that they claim you are.
I don’t want to learn from people who say that you cannot own bitcoin. It is fucking stupid, and in NO WAY interesting or enlighted. Just fucking stupid.
I agree. But defining ownership and property is a very interesting topic. I'm not arguing with the retarded communists. I'm trying to understand my own position better. When presented with a stupid idea it's good to know why it is stupid. What is your definition of ownership?
It is an agreement, based on a belief in a shared truth about, in this case, the possibility to OWN a thing. I don’t think that it SHOULD be defined too exactly; some things are self evident and based in the human existence. OF COURSE A HUMAN SHOULD OWN THINGS!! Too much sophistery is detrimental and leads to losing our humanity. 🤷
Also agree. Jordan Peterson and those like him think too much. But... A lot of normies never even consider that they don't actually own their property because you have to pay rent through taxes to the gov't.
Of course we should be able to think thoroughly about things and investigate from different perspectives. But sometimes I lose my patience with people who don’t seem to be willing to agree on the most fundamental concepts; with them I have no intellectual common ground. They are most often marxists, and they are impregnated with this toxic way of thinking to which I have an instictive gut level revulsion against. They have been indoctrinated from childhood, so maybe I shouldn’t judge them too hard.🤷
No. Your gut instinct is correct. Fuck the commies. Don't give them an inch. They are insincere and cannot be reasoned with. Truth is based on objective reality, but commie truth is based on relative morality. There is no principle to agree on. Just opportunity for theft and the will to use force to act upon it. They will twist every scenario for their advantage without shame because they are Godless. I don't try to reason with Satan. I cast him out. And continue to do so, because he never learns and keeps coming back. Same with communists.
Thank you. You know, I have as long as I remember been a non believer. But the older I get, the less non believer I have become. And it is mostly through observing the The spirit of Cain, Evil, Envy operating in the world, being angry at the world, making the wrong sacrifices. So it is through watching evil I have stopped being a non believer. Evil is real. Evil is Lucifer. It’s opposite is also real. Good is real. Good is God. The Left really doesn't want people to discover the obvious connection between Marxism and Lucifer. Marxism is antihuman. It is Luciferian. It is Evil.
If you generated a low entropy seed, sent coins to one of the addresses, and then the coins got moved by someone else. Are you claiming that you would still own those coins even after you no longer control them?
If someone goes into your house and take your TV to another location, does the theif own the TV? Ownership isn’t a complex issue. Ownership is a selfevident thing that comes with the human condition. It is a basic human right.
So you're saying that in this example, even though you didn't own the private key, you do own the bitcoin? But if there is no way to enforce that ownership claim, what does it even mean? A court won't enforce it, the bitcoin network won't enforce it. Do you just track the utxo as it moves around and tell people that it's yours?
I probably don’t understand what You’re asking. It is meaningless to continue. We’re not standing on the same ground. I own MY #Bitcoin Everyone of them. You, nor anyone else, can take them from me, other in some hypothetical and for me totally uninteresting scenario.
ERROR CORRECTION☝️*”CAN’T take them from me”
IP laws are garbage. Hard to enforce. Hard to define. If you want a more robust explanation of ownership and IP see the writings of Stephen Kinsella. https://mises.org/library/book/against-intellectual-property nostr:nevent1qqszqjrrve94mdaj55cmccj3y97wk6gjawap6n6dh9rcr5kh44wzjmqpremhxue69uhkummnw3ez6ur4vgh8wetvd3hhyer9wghxuet59upzq73daj650y8q6dmryqa8hfdtnxh5clk4lnejqvfu74mpgljn4atfqvzqqqqqqyy8ytzf
I'm not referring to laws. You can own a piece of physical property, not taking the law into consideration, by gaining and maintaining control over that property. I propose you can own a secret in the same way. But there is a counter argument to this and I don't understand the premise that is based on. That's what I'm asking about. I want to understand where that belief is derived from.
I wasn't very clear. I wasn't talking about just IP laws. But IP laws are based on the assumption that you can own an idea. Ideas aren't scarce. As soon as you share or use an idea in the world it's no longer scarce. An idea multiplies and grows or dies. It's different than your private key. You can use your private key without revealing it to the world.
Define ownership. A good working definition is exclusive control over a scarce resource. If you keep your number secret you have exclusive ownership over your Bitcoin. You won't get that kind of ownership guarantee for land or cars. Stop paying taxes or insurance and see what happens.
There is no point to discuss things with marxists https://image.nostr.build/4d06f8c6c15be74c000ee88ff0ab24f747b811c78bedc373c96f90658137599c.jpg
lol. Intellectual property is a state construct - you can't "own" information, because anyone can potentially copy or independently create the same information without removing your access to it.
